Two years have gone by

Everyone dreams of their wedding day and plans a lot so that on that great day everything comes out perfect.  Well, our great day didn’t turn out how we had hoped, but without a doubt it was the best day of our lives.  I’m so grateful for the things that went wrong that made my wedding unique and fun to remember.

The day began early, I had to leave American Fork and drive 45 minutes to Farmington where I was going to do my hair, makeup, get dressed and afterwards go to Bountiful, where I was going to get married at 1:00 pm.  So I ended up leaving the house without eating that morning.  With all the chaos trying to get ready and get to the temple on time there wasn’t any time to even think about eating.

In the sealing room there wasn’t any room for any other feeling outside of pure joy of being sealed to the love of my life for all eternity.  But after the sealing finished I began to feel sick a little bit.  It was after 3:00 in the afternoon and I still hadn’t eaten anything, and that way to tight dress didn’t help at all either.  One of the temple workers gave me some crackers and orange juice, but I don’t know if that helped or just made things worse.  The feeling eventually passed and there I went, to go take pictures outside and around the temple, it was a beautiful and sunny day.

While we were taking pictures somebody stepped on my dress train. Yep... I went the rest of the wedding with a big footprint on my dress!
So with the pictures done it was time to go to the reception.  As soon as I got into the car I began to feel sick again.  When I got to the reception hall I went straight to the bride’s room to loosen my dress and try to breathe better, then all of a sudden I felt like I needed to throw up… I ran to the bathroom and… guess what?  There was a little sign saying that the toilet was broken and couldn’t flush.  My friend Aline was with me, she looked to see if there was water in the bathtub and said “Dinda!  Throw up over here!”, so… I did.  When I was in the bathroom throwing up my sister in law ran to get something for me to eat, a few minutes later I was laying on the couch feeling great and with people serving me food… I felt like a princess!

So way past late, I finally went down to the ceremony.  It was supposed to be a simple ceremony just to exchange rings and what happens?  The groom forgot the rings in the car!  Hahaha (the best part was the video of our wedding where you can see through the window someone running to get the rings) Comedy!  It was still a calm and relaxed ceremony, the bishop had to improvise and draw out his words while someone went to go get the rings.

Ok, enough with ceremonies, lets eat and have fun.  Alex made a beautiful video of the two of us to play in the room where the food was.  The only problem was that when the video finished, the staff at the reception didn’t turn it off and the same video and music played over and over again… all night long!!  Oh heavens!!

Time to cut the cake.  But wait a minute…that wasn’t the cake we chose.  They didn't decorated the cake.  We didn’t really have much of a choice to do anything at that point so we just ate it, and it was tasty!

We danced our waltz, of course I stepped a lot on his toes, but after that we all had a lot of fun dancing together and having all of the Americans dance forró (brazilian dance).

So this was our wedding.  Besides having reason to be so, I never was sad, stressed, or frustrated, not even angry.  I took advantage of the day and it was marvelous! The day after we were flying to the most perfect honey-moon anybody could ever have.

Yesterday we celebrated 2 years of our “Happily Ever After”!
